Why Teams?

Teams save money. In come teams and out goes middle management. Organizations turning to teams solely to save bucks have not been disappointed.

Teams increase productivity. Teams are closer to the action and closer to the customer than the old bureaucracy could be. Teams see opportunities for improving efficiencies bosses can't hope to see.

Teams make better use of resources. Teams are a way for an organization to focus its most important resource, its brainpower, directly on problems. The team is the Just-In-Time idea applied to organizational structure -- the principle that nothing may be wasted.

Teams mean higher-quality decisions. Good leadership comes from good knowledge. The essence of the team idea is shared knowledge -- and its immediate conversion to shared leadership.

Teams mean improved processes. Processes occur across functions. Teams, straddling all the functions contributing to a process have better "process vision." That's why reengineering in the 1990s and teams went hand in hand.

But to accomplish all of this, teams need to be innovative.  People are creative, but teams provide the innovation that drives organizations forward.

In their ground-breaking research published in "Built to Last", Jim Collins and Jerry Porras shared that not only did high-performing organizations have a solid core of Purpose and Values, but that they embraced, and in fact strived to stimulate progress and to constantly challenge and move the organization forward.  That means making the organization more innovative.  Innovation comes from Teams, and is based on the "Z" Process.

Successful team members don’t do the same thing at the same time. They do the right thing at the right time. And while team members work together toward a common goal, individuals still must play their separate parts in the process.

Utilizing the Team Dimensions Profile, a unique self-directed learning instrument, we help individuals work from their strengths by identifying their most natural team role. The Team Dimensions Profile and the Team Dimensions Group Report helps team members understand the importance of each role and furthers their appreciation of each individual’s contribution. The five roles include Creator, Advancer, Refiner, Executor, and Flexer.

“Z Process” Keeps Teams Moving in the Right Direction

The Team Dimensions Profile maps the flow of assigning roles, completing tasks, and handing off tasks to other team members through the Z Process. In this relay process, tasks are passed from Creators to Advancers, from Advancers to Refiners, and from Refiners to Executors. Flexers keep the process moving by filling gaps in the team.

Conducted in 16 to 24 hours, depending on the team's needs, Team Innovations™ teaches teams how to use the "Z" process and other tools to solve problems and drive performance.  Normally we conduct the training in multiple sessions, but we can provide the training in one two-day session.
